Balanced Metabolic Coaching combines evolutionary science with functional medicine. It’s a holistic approach, designed with the understanding that the necessary nutrients your cells receive or do not receive will affect everything about you.

Before your first coaching session, Dr. Al will send you a detailed questionnaire & 3 day food log. He’ll ask for medical and dental records, as these will help him see the entire picture, and be able to start on a personalized plan before your first meeting together.
Your plan includes four 60-90 minute 1:1 virtual sessions with Dr. Al, as well as direct access to him via email and short virtual sessions for any additional questions or assistance needed during the program.

Of course you can see anyone you choose. My emphasis will probably be different than most. I emphasize getting to the bottom causes rather than just treating the result of these causes over and over again. Nutrient-dense real foods, good gut bacteria, and a healthy lifestyle are the most important basic facts that influence health. These must be addressed and optimized before real success with treatment can occur over the long-term.

I will ask you to fill out a detailed questionnaire and a 3-day food journal so that I can get to know you. In some cases, I may ask for dental records or bloodwork to help understand your unique situation. You and I will have a detailed conversation about your concerns, and I will make recommendations based on our discussion. Making these lifestyle changes takes time, and I will be there throughout the process to help guide and advise you.
I emphasize real food to get the proper fats, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients into your body. I do not sell any supplements or other products. However, I do discuss the products I personally use and the books I am currently reading and recommend. Some of the companies of the products I recommend offer a bonus to me if you purchase from them.

Good oral hygiene is also important. Coming from 40+ years as a periodontist, I’ve found dental work to be a strong indicator of overall health. Any damage done to the mouth from dental and periodontal breakdown must be repaired to provide normal function. So, we will also focus on your oral health.
