– Apple Crisp with Honey –

Desserts can be decadent and unhealthy. This dessert/snack is neither. It is delicious and satisfying – at least for my taste. You could think of this as the filling for an apple pie without the dough and without the junk. If you had ½ apple as a personal serving, it would provide about 11 grams of net carbs.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbs Ghee (or grass-fed butter)
  • 2 Apples (I prefer Fuji), sliced and cubed
  • 1/2 Cup “4505 Cracklin Crumbles” (crumbled pork rinds)
  • Raw honey
  • Heavy cream (optional)

Preparation

  1. Add ghee (or butter) into saucepan and set temperature to medium heat
  2. Add apples. Stir well, cover, and cook apples until soft (10-12 minutes)
  3. Sprinkle pork rind crumbles and mix
  4. Serve warm or out of the refrigerator
  5. Place apple crisp into serving dish and top with a dollop of raw honey
  6. If you want, add some heavy cream (optional)

  1. Hi Al,

Everyone I know who have managed to get off the dairy product addiction are healthier and resistant to flus and colds.

Dairy is just so addictive (due to to it’s opioid like effect in the brain) that this certainly seems to be the make or break of whether a diet that involves eating no dairy gets taken up or not.

It seems the normal low carbohydrate diet is dependent on it with large amounts of cheese, butter and cream in so many recipes.

I am surprised what Paleomedicina says about dairy, and I know you did the diet, why are you are still putting it in your recipes?
