Crazy-Good LIVING!
My Book-Writing Journey

Crazy-Good LIVING

My Journey

A little more than 2 years ago, I began looking for a literary agent who might be interested in my idea of a book that had to do with nutrition and lifestyle. I knew there were hundreds of books on the subject. It seemed that the field was flooded with everyone’s ideas of a “healthy diet”. But, my book was going to be unique.

My book wasn’t going to be a diet book; it also wasn’t going to be similar to any “healthy” book out there. My book was going to incorporate the science of nutrition and lifestyle from our primal past. It was going to be unique because I would write it from the perspective of a dentist – a dentist who specialized in gum disease for over four decades.

No one has written from this perspective before. Since the mouth is where all nutrition begins and since the mouth is the mirror for what happens in the body, it would be logical to start a discussion of health from where the story actually begins. Beyond the mouth, the rest of the body would become its playground.

I discovered a literary agent, Faye Swetky, who read my book proposal and became intrigued. She saw the potential. She encouraged me and guided me along my book-writing journey.

Eventually, I completed the book, and Faye began the search for a publisher. In addition, Faye connected me with an experienced and clever editor, D. J. Herda, who helped transform my book into a marketable manuscript. Her pursuit finally uncovered Elektra Press, a small, traditional publishing company that understood my book’s vision. Faye and Elektra Press came together to make my book a reality.

Summary Of Book

If you knew a train was coming toward you, would you get off the tracks? Your future health is dependent on you becoming proactive.

Our species evolved over the course of 2.5 million years. Modern humans have been in existence for 160,000 years. Nourishment and lifestyle allowed modern humans to excel. Our primal ancestors hardly ever experienced chronic diseases, gum disease, or tooth decay. Similarly, primal societies still in existence today rarely develop any of these diseases. But about 10,000 years ago, some things began to change with the food supply and lifestyle for the inhabitants of an increasingly civilized world.

Today, we are a society that is burdened with many chronic, degenerative diseases. These include gum disease, tooth decay, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, high blood pressure, and many others. Environmental factors are responsible for some ninety percent of these diseases.

Crazy-Good LIVING! takes a unique look at the human condition with an evolutionary perspective from the point of view of a periodontist (a dentist specializing in gum diseases). Almost everything that enters the body first goes through the mouth. And, almost everything that occurs in the body makes itself known in various tissues of the mouth.

Health requires certain actions: Put good things into your body; avoid bad things that can harm your body; and live a lifestyle that supports your body. Your overall health will thank you with years of vitality and a supercharged quality of life.

Crazy-Good LIVING! tells the story that makes sense. It’s both easy to understand and may even save your life.

Crazy-Good LIVING!Here is a pre-order request link for my new book, Crazy-Good LIVING!

After almost 43 years of treating patients, I have learned a lot. I have improved my life and the lives of my patients. My passion is to share not only what I have learned as a periodontist but also what I have learned from life.

About five years ago, I was introduced to primal nutrition and primal lifestyle. This knowledge was a game changer for me. Once I experienced how effective it was in my own life, I began to incorporate primal nutrition and primal lifestyle into periodontal treatment for my patients. My unique way of treating patients enriched many of their lives.

What I have learned I put into my new book, Crazy-Good LIVING! This is my story. I take a broad perspective starting with lessons from our primal ancestors. Throughout the book, I incorporate my four pillars of health: nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory foods; restorative sleep; efficient exercise; and stress reduction.

The publication date is set for July 15, 2017. The publisher has set up a Pre-Order Request link if you want to be one of the first to receive the book. As I said, my passion is to share what has helped me in countless ways. Thanks in advance.
