What price do you put on good health?

Good health is priceless. It’s the foundation of everything you do. Your health allows you to lead your life as you want – creating new opportunities, enjoying family and friends, and making memories.

Unfortunately, many of us struggle with our health – whether it be through “minor” inconveniences such as brain fog, or big disruptions like cancer.

You could spend thousands of dollars on health insurance, medications, and conventional medical doctor bills and still never get healthy. The least expensive medical insurance you could ever buy is investing in yourself to improve your nutrition, gut, stress, immune system, and other lifestyle activities.

Unfortunately, you could regain good health and then lose it again. This could occur because of various reasons and require another effort to reclaim your wellness.

Let me share two of my personal journeys.

Regaining My Health, the First Time

My first life-changing and life-threatening event occurred on a Saturday in 2006. I was 59-years old and had been practicing my specialty of dentistry for 32 years.

On that Saturday morning, my 6-year-old grandson was staying with my wife and me for the weekend. He was sleeping between us in our bed.

I woke, turned to my grandson, and attempted to ask him if he wanted to go out for breakfast. But something was wrong.

When I tried to speak, no recognizable words came out of my mouth. My speech was garbled. I panicked.

I first thought I must have been sleeping with my mouth open, and that dried out my mouth.

So, I got out of bed, went to my bathroom, drank a glass of water, and then attempted to ask my grandson again if he wanted to go out for breakfast.

Still, just gabled sounds.

My wife then woke, realized what was happening, and took me to the emergency room. As a registered nurse, she knew I was having a stroke.

Fortunately, my stroke was not severe. Other than the inability to speak, I had no other obvious physical issues.

My conventional doctors saved my life. They put me on 7 medications to take for the rest of my life and discharged me after a couple of weeks. It took over a month for my speech to return to normal. I went back to my dental office to see patients fulltime about 2 months after being discharged.

I realized I was not as healthy as I thought. My stroke motivated me to seek out a healthier lifestyle and diet. However, it took about 7 years before finally discovering the benefits of a Paleo-type diet and primal lifestyle in 2013. Eventually, by the age of 69 in 2016, I was eating and living healthy and was able to wean off all 7 medications and to lose over 30 pounds of excess fat.

Life was great. Regaining my health empowered me. I wanted to share everything I learned with my periodontal patients. And so, I incorporated my new knowledge with the periodontal treatment I provided my patients. Those who accepted my suggestions of diet and lifestyle changes experienced enhanced healing and overall health improvement. My mission was to change the world as best as I could.

Regaining My Health, the Second Time

Then in 2018, I experienced the biggest challenge of my life. I was diagnosed with incurable bone marrow cancer in September 2018 and was given 3-6 months to live. At that time, I was 71-years old.

The years leading up to this devastating diagnosis were filled with hope and direction from what I learned following my stroke. I had gotten healthy by eating and living a primal lifestyle. I even considered myself the “senior poster boy for a healthy lifestyle”. And I was lecturing around the country and writing about my success.

However, the invisible cancer that was lurking inside my body had severely damaged my bone structure without me knowing. I had no idea how many years ago the malignancy began its path of destruction within me. But my research suggested that I was exposed to two significant and continuous toxicities while in dental school and in my periodontal specialty training from 1968-1974. My excessive exposure to low dose ionizing radiation (dental x-rays) and free mercury (from dental amalgam fillings) most likely caused at least one plasma cell in my body to become cancerous and eventually grow to a full-blown malignancy of multiple myeloma by 2018 – 4 decades later!

Learning of my diagnosis and prognosis was as though a ton of bricks fell on me. My life as I knew it was going to change forever.

My oncologist explained that conventional medicine could not cure my multiple myeloma. With his consent, I rejected chemotherapy and began to investigate other options, which led to the creation of my own 11 Unconventional Cancer Protocols. The goals of my protocols were to help strengthen my immune system and heal the rest of my body as best as possible. Quality of life meant everything to me. I was not interested in longevity without a quality of life.

By diligently following my 11 Unconventional Cancer Protocols, I regained my health as best as my body would allow, and I began another amazing journey to teach others about regaining their health. I was empowered once again.

Others Have Regained Their Health & Empowerment

Example #1

I have a client who has had “brain fog” and lack of energy for years. He and I discussed his concerns, and I coached him to improve his nutrition and gut function. We investigated his dental health, sleep patterns, chronic emotional stress, and physical activity. After 3 months of some changes, he felt he was a new man. He confided in me that he was going to train to become a functional medicine practitioner. And now he has the mental clarity and overall energy to pursue his new career with a new mindset. His newly acquired health empowered him to pursue his life’s work.

Example #2

Another client has been a vegan for over 20 years. She just realized that avoiding all animal foods has caused muscle wasting and ill health. Her lack of energy and dental problems motivated her to contact me for a consult. We worked together for 3 months. I helped her seek out a biological dentist to improve her dental health, and I coached her to change her diet and lifestyle. She now is feeling like a new woman and can get on with a more vibrant, proactive, and productive life. She told me that her mission now was to educate her immediate family of the importance of an animal-based diet for overall wellness.

Example #3

Years ago, a 30-year-old woman came to my periodontal office complaining of sore, bleeding gums. In fact, her gum tissues had a “red, bubbly, angry” appearance. However, from a dental standpoint, there were no obvious causes for her oral problem. She previously had seen her medical doctor who checked for possible systemic diseases that could be the cause, but none were found. She felt miserable and fatigued. All she could think about was her mouth discomfort. During her examination in my office, she explained that she was subjected to emotional and sexual abuse by her employer constantly! I explained how this chronic stress affected her overall health and manifested as severe lesions in her mouth. Fortunately, she had a new job offer in another state. She accepted that position, quit her current job, and moved away. Four months later, she returned to my office for a checkup. From the time she originally was seen until the time she returned, she did not receive any medical or dental treatment for her mouth lesions. Her only treatment was the 100% removal of her emotional stress. Amazingly, all the gum lesions were gone – no soreness, no bleeding, no pain. Her previous gum lesions were caused by severe emotional stress. And her cure occurred because she completely removed this chronic emotional stress from her life. Her overall health was restored, and she was empowered. She was able to pursue her life’s goals unimpeded by chronic emotional stress, which had created a deteriorating health problem.

My Invitation to You

I invite you to consider your overall health today …

  • Are there areas of your health that need attention?
  • Are there methods to improve those weaknesses?
  • Are there areas of your health that you have not been able to improve personally?
  • Have you been disappointed with healthcare practitioners who have not resolved your concerns?

And then think about how you could improve your business and all that you want to do in life once you had your health back. If you improved your health and had more energy and mental clarity, you would be empowered. You could pursue whatever you have the desire to pursue. Quality of life and the pursuit of your goals would be the results of improved health.

Here are some areas that impact your health and can be tweaked to improve your immune system and empower you: [1],[2]

The bottom line to improve your health and become empowered is to improve your immune system. The State of Our Health
– As I Know It –

Dr. Al Danenberg Nutritional Periodontist

February 27, 2022 [printfriendly]

Our health is in a state of turmoil and misinformation. It is following a nutritional path to destruction. I’m not being dramatic; I’m being real.

As you may know, I was diagnosed with incurable multiple myeloma in 2018. The truth is, the state of our health system failed me, as it is failing you right now. While I can’t pinpoint exactly why I got sick, my research has led me to several important conclusions.

I want to share some facts and my thoughts with you. This is the state of the world as I know it. And it may be an eye opener if you haven’t considered the facts – the real facts and nothing but the facts. But all is not lost. I also want to share what we can all do to be proactive and help keep ourselves and our loved ones healthy.

8 Scary Statistics

  1. The United States is the highest spending country worldwide when it comes to health care.[1]
  2. The U.S. Health System ranks dead last among the 11 high-income countries in the world.[2]
  3. The first and close-second leading causes of death in the US are heart disease and cancer, which are chronic, debilitating, yet preventable diseases. Our population is grossly and glaringly unhealthy.[3]
  4. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) stated that 60% of Americans live with at least one chronic disease, and chronic diseases are responsible for 70% of deaths each year in the United States. In addition, at least 72% of our society is overweight or obese.[4]
  5. In a 2019 issue of the journal, Metabolic Disorders and Related Disorders, a peer-reviewed study showed that 88% of US population is metabolically unhealthy.[5]
  6. In 2010, a published paper demonstrated that 93.9% of adults in the United States had some form of gum inflammation (gingivitis) [6], which frequently has its origin in an unhealthy gut.[7],[8]
  7. In 2015, the CDC published their results in the Journal of Periodontology.[9] It showed the prevalence of severe periodontal disease (periodontitis) was estimated to be 47.2% for American adults. For adults 65 years old and older, the prevalence jumped to 70.1%.
  8. The CDC reported that approximately 91% of U.S. adults aged 20–64 had dental caries in permanent teeth.[10] The prevalence increases to 93% for those above 65 years old.[11]

Do I Have a Cure for Chronic Systemic Diseases?

My answer is, “No!”

I do have a carefully researched and tested set of tools and metrics that allowed me to quadruple my life expectancy after being diagnosed with incurable multiple myeloma and given 3-6 months to live in September 2018.

Let me be very clear. I do not have a cure for chronic disease or cancer.

But I have a means to support my immune system, enhance my nutrition, and create a healthy gut. For the most part, my Unconventional Cancer Protocols have assisted me in improving my health.

I’m sharing what I have learned with you in hopes that you’ll take these findings and use them to help yourself and all whom you love and care about. If I can leave one legacy behind, it’s to help people take control of their health and know they can change their circumstances.

When I talk to my medical and dental colleagues, I’m not preaching to the choir. Most of them have no idea what I am talking about. And most biologically oriented healthcare professionals aren’t getting the message completely either.

I believe that biologically oriented healthcare professionals have the ideal platform to address the facts I will describe and could make a considerable difference in the health of their patients. But everyone could take the lead and make substantial changes for himself or herself. You don’t have to be a healthcare professional to understand and implement what I have to say.

Healthcare Professionals Must Get Educated

#1. Most chronic diseases start in the gut. For various reasons, the potentially 38 trillion microbes that originally are in a state of balance in the gut can become unhealthy with overgrowing pathogenic species. The one-cell-layer epithelial barrier of the gut becomes breached. Within the gut, there are remnants of cell walls of gram-negative bacteria called LPS (Lipopolysaccharides). They are highly toxic to the body if they get into the circulation. With a breakdown in the gut epithelial barrier, LPS begins to leak into the blood stream through the “leaky gut” allowing the immune system to mount a significant and chronic inflammatory state that eventually can affect all organ systems and lead to most chronic diseases. Periodontal disease is just one of many chronic diseases that emanates from a leaky gut. This article published on 2/8/22 describes the destruction to the entire body via LPS leaking from the gut.

#2. When it comes to periodontal diseases, treatment must include active treatment of gut dysbiosis concurrently with active treatment of oral disease. Diseases in the mouth can become systemic and affect all organ systems throughout the body, just as a leaky gut alone can become the causal factor for chronic disease. The diet must be tweaked, the gut must be made healthy, and definitive periodontal treatment must be instituted.

Definitive Scaling & Root Planing in the early stages of periodontitis should be implemented, while Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) bone regeneration surgery should be the goal in advanced stages. This Laser wavelength also destroys the majority of pathogenic bacteria in the infected tissues.[12] Watch these enlightening animated videos to help you understand both these treatments:

#3. Healthcare professionals and proactive individuals need to understand the critical effects of a diverse garden of microbes in the gut and the mouth. Never should the microbiome be indiscriminately destroyed, but the microbiome must be treated effectively and efficiently to bring it back into a state of homeostasis.

#4. We need to realize the vital importance of biologically available, animal-derived nutrients in their natural and balanced ratios with other symbiotic elements. The animal sources must be organically and compassionately raised and humanely slaughtered.

#5. Everyone needs to appreciate the facts about regenerative rotational farming and animal grazing using no chemicals. The facts are that this type of regenerative farming and grazing results in benefits to the world environment and the world population.

#6. Some fruits and a very select number of vegetables can be healthy and included in your lifestyle eating plan. However, many vegetables, processed fats and oils, added sugars, grains, and almost all nuts and seeds contain “antinutrients” that are damaging to the gut, encouraging chronic systemic inflammation, and leading to chronic debilitating diseases later in life – and these include dental diseases. The potentially damaging foods must be eliminated as part of your new way of eating for a lifetime.

#7. And when it comes to supplements, humans are not deficient. Synthetic, processed, unbalanced supplements including other harmful chemical ingredients do overall harm and do not address the real problem. These chemically harmful ingredients accumulate over time.

#8. Our body requires hydrogen and electrolytes in their natural states to allow the many metabolic, mitochondrial, and ionic transfers and pathways to occur seamlessly. We are electrical beings and require discriminating oxidation/reduction processes (i.e., Redox[13]) to occur continuously.

#9. Manmade and processed indiscriminate antioxidants can be ultimately destructive to the intricate biology of our system. These indiscriminate supplements may destroy all free radicals. In contrast, high-dose molecular hydrogen (16 PPM) dissolved in drinking water neutralizes only the harmful, excessive free radicals but allows healthy free radicals to function in the body as they are supposed to do. Molecular hydrogen also is a potent and discriminating anti-inflammatory agent.

My Wife Thinks I’m a Fanatic

I am not a fanatic; I am a realist. Eventually, I will die from the complications of multiple myeloma, but it will be on my terms as I live the best quality of life I can muster for my body’s metabolism, mitochondrial function, and immune system.

My multiple myeloma was a result of poor nutrition throughout most of my life, unhealthy lifestyle choices, and a significantly toxic chemical environment during my 6 years of dental and specialty training. In addition, the advice propagated by the USDA Food Pyramid and its many updates, the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, and the American Cancer Society contributed to the misinformation I followed. All professed a diet and lifestyle which are contrary to our human species’ evolution and DNA Blueprint. I have changed my way of living and am making enormous strides to heal my body.

Do Your Due Diligence

  • Read the seminal paper published in 2021 about the evolution of the human species over 2.5 million years which got us where we are today. Humans are the most intellectual and dominant animal on earth, and the authors’ story is both multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary.
  • Watch this 15-minute video by Brian Sanders about meat, regenerative farming & grazing, the benefits to the environment, and feeding the world. This short talk about how we got where we are today will be the basis of his soon-to-be released documentary film, Food Lies.

  • Investigate some the human studies (HERE, HERE) that clearly prove that healthy red meat does not cause cardiovascular disease or cancer. On the contrary, consumption of healthy meat and organs is inversely correlated with these chronic diseases.
  • Read this controlled study of Kenyan children who excelled in school when they ate animal-based foods and did poorly when they ate predominantly plant-based foods.
  • Read the results of this study, which showed that total meat intake is positively associated with increased life expectancy. The study included an analysis of 175 contemporary populations.
  • Peruse the case reports from the Paleomedicina Clinic in Budapest, Hungary where over 5,000 patients with severe and sometimes “incurable” chronic diseases and cancers have been treated and sometimes cured using a strict animal-based diet with no supplements and no prescription drugs. Go to their website and then click on “Scientific Work and Articles”.
  • Read and understand the critical importance of a healthy gut.

My Legacy

The legacy I want to leave calls for all proactive individuals to take a hard look at the way our primal ancestors evolved into the intellectual and nutritionally healthy beings we can be today and appreciate the requirements of our DNA Blueprint which have genetically evolved very little during the last 10,000 years.

I intend to help my body as best as I can fight the fight it was designed to fight by providing all that it needs and avoiding everything that it doesn’t need.

You can do the same thing for yourself and for all others whom you love and care about. Be proactive! Start today!

I can help you if you want some guidance. Here’s a link to schedule a free 30-minute consultation with me to discuss.

Healing & Health
– 3 Documentaries –

Dr. Al Danenberg Nutritional Periodontist

x

x

Who is leading whom? Is the medical profession taking the lead to educate people about healing and health? Or, are patients forcing their doctors to get educated or else? My answers are “No” to the former and “Yes” to the latter.

x

Often, organized medicine has been reluctant to “look outside” the box. Most conventionally trained medical doctors are overwhelmed with the number of patients under their care. They are so busy treating the symptoms of sick people that they have little time or interest to explore the underlying causes of most diseases.

x

I’ll come back to my original question, “Who is leading whom?” Who is taking the lead to bring the truth of healing and health to the public?

x

My thought is that people are demanding answers from the medical profession. People who are sick; people who know people who are sick; people who don’t want to get sick – these are the folks who are pressuring medical professionals to educate themselves. These are the individuals who are getting the rest of the population to ask pertinent questions about their healing and their health.

x

Demands from curious people are pushing open-minded investigators in the healthcare industry to do the research and report the findings. Other well-positioned people are taking these results and writing about disease prevention and exposing the fundamental causes of today’s chronic diseases. Still other entrepreneurs are producing webinars, summits, and documentaries to get the words of healing and health out to the masses.

x

Let it be known that there are specific reasons why 60% of US adults have at least one diagnosed chronic disease[1]. Certainly, these people are not sick because they have a deficiency in a particular prescription medication! Chronically diseased individuals want answers to why they are the way they are and why they aren’t getting healthier from conventional medicine.

x

x

Education

There are various means to educate the public – for example, the written word.

x

I did a search on Amazon and found over 10,000 books published about “Disease Prevention” and over 1,000 books on “Healing Chronic Disease”.

x

There also are medical papers to educate the medical community. When I searched PubMed.gov for “Causes of Chronic Disease”, I discovered over 400,000 published peer-reviewed articles from all over the world[2].

x

Videos also are a great way to educate.

x

Recently, I had a chance to watch three documentaries on healing and health on Netflix. I don’t agree with everything that is reported in these documentaries. Some “statements of fact” in these productions are blatantly wrong in my opinion. This “fake news” must be identified and discussed by healthcare professionals with their patients. But these videos can start a conversation, which is helpful and sorely needed.

3 Documentaries

x

HEAL

2017   1h:46 m   Director – Kelly Noonan

x

HEAL follows three people on their high-stakes journey of healing.  This production describes their medical conditions and how their faith in God, faith in medicine, and faith in their bodies helped them to heal. Basically, connections are made between the human psyche and physical health.

x

The video points out that we have more control over our health and life than we have been taught to believe. This film attempts to empower the viewer with a new understanding of the miraculous nature of the human body and the extraordinary healer within. The essential toxic element that is common to most chronic diseases is the stress one places on the body.

x

x

THE MAGIC PILL

2017   1hr:29m  Director – Robert Tate

x

THE MAGIC PILL looks at the potential health benefits of a ketogenic (Keto) diet. A keto diet consists of primarily healthy fats, some protein, and very few carbohydrates. Most processed foods are not a part of a keto diet. Intentionally, a keto diet forces the body to use “ketones” as a source for energy rather than “glucose”. This documentary follows several people’s lives and how a keto diet has helped their medical circumstances.

x

x

ROOT CAUSE

2018   1hr:15m    Director – Frazer Bailey

x

ROOT CAUSE documents a man’s 10-year search for the underlying cause of his chronic illnesses. The film details the personal experiences of the film director Frazer Bailey (played by actor Ben Purser). In the end, a failing root canal in his upper front tooth may have been the source of chronic inflammation. The x-ray of the tooth in the documentary appeared to me to have a “periapical radiolucency“, which most likely is active infection.  The solution was to extract the diseased tooth, clean out the infection in the bone socket, and place an appropriate implant into the space.
